Hello, and welcome to 154th edition of ByteAction newsletter!
Apologies for the late release this week - has been a busy September! 😅
This week I’ve published a new Podcast episode where I spoke to Co-Founder of Playdead Studios and Founder of Coherence - Dino Patti. It was a really interesting conversation, and I hope you have a chance to listen to it or watch it. You can find the link here:
As for what happened last week in the industry: Absurd Ventures, founded by Rockstar co-founder Dan Houser, has launched Absurd Marin studio, staffed mainly by ex-developers from Ascendant Studios
In other news, 4A Games, the Metro series developer, will stay with Embracer Group after Saber Interactive chose not to buy the studio
Lastly, Unity has canceled the controversial Runtime Fee following "deep consultation" with its community and partners, effective immediately.

Interview with Rod Fergusson & Gavian Whishaw (Blizzard)
“What we like to say is, what Season 4 did for loot, Season 6 does for progression. And so people are going to see a lot of really interesting changes into how we do paragon, how we deal with difficulty, how we deal with levelling, and we’re really excited for them to really see all that come to life in Season 6.”
