Hello, and welcome to 144th edition of ByteAction newsletter!
Last week I released another episode of ByteAction podcast. This time I spoke to Dima Pinchuk - ex-Global Marketing Director @ Wargaming and ex-VP of Marketing at SocialPoint. You can listen to the podcast here:
As for what’s been happening in the industry: Embracer Group announced that it had shut down Piranha Bytes studio in Germany. The studio was known for for cult RPGs like Gothic, Risen, and Elex. The good news is that some of Piranha’s former devs have formed a new studio, and are working on unannounced indie game.
In other news, this year’s The Summer Games Done Quick event raised over $2.5 million for Doctors Without Borders through skilled gamers speedrunning for charity.

Dev Talks
“We’ve had some bad news and some encouraging news. I’m excited about the stuff that’s happening right now. Despite the triple-A side of things, the industry is looking up. There might be space to talk about optimism.
For me it’s all about the verification part. Marketing has changed significantly. Players now are much more in tune with how game development works. You can talk a lot about the promises you make to players, but it’s all about verifying that players actually want what you’re developing.”
