Hello, and welcome to 139th edition of ByteAction newsletter!
One of my colleagues is currently attend Dev.Play conference in Bucharest, Romania. Check out a few snapshots from Fortis Games presentation yesterday.
As for what’s been happening in the games industry last week - more unfortunate events as Avalanche Studios Group will be closing 2 of their studio locations in New York and Montréal. This will lead to 50 staff layoffs.
In other news, Sony apologised for misquoting Neil Druckman and removed his latest interview all together.
Lastly, Amir Satvat shared some scary stats about the % of chances of getting a job in the games industry especially if you’re just starting out. Sounds like you have a better chance of making it if you are starting your own studio.

Dev Talks
Interview with Tomasz Stachowiak & Anastasia Opara - Tiny Glade
“One of the biggest issues we are continuously working on, because it is a thing that can't be figured out right away, is user experience. Essentially, it is the most critical aspect of the game because a significant part of developing this castle-builder is ensuring that interactions are satisfying, so if something is off with the controls or doesn't feel intuitive enough, it will derail the enjoyment of the game.”
