Hello, and welcome to 137th edition of ByteAction newsletter!
I’m still at Digital Dragons, so apologies for a later release this week. A couple of slides from Swen Vinicke’s presentation which was an absolute highlight for me.
As for what’s been happening in the games industry - Larian Studios and Activision Games (Elsewhere) have opened up new branches in Poland.
In other news, Phoenix Labs was hit by layoffs due to major restructuring. The studio will also be cancelling the project they were working on.
Lastly, Playstation Studios had greeted their community with one final goodbye after it was announced earlier this year that the studio was going to be shut down.

Interview with Sarah Bond - XBOX Game Studios
“You know, it's always extraordinarily hard when you have to make decisions like that. I'll go back to what I was saying about the industry. And when we looked at those fundamental trends, we feel a deep responsibility to ensure that the games we make, the devices we build, the services that we offer are there through moments, even when the industry isn't growing and when you're through a time of transition. And the news we announced earlier this week is an outcome of that, and our commitment to make sure that the business is healthy for the long term.”
