Hello, and welcome to 125th edition of ByteAction newsletter! I can’t believe this is the last week of winter and this weekend the Spring begins. I feel like the days are just flying now 😱
Last week ByteAction released its first podcast episode. I spoke to Hugo Bastien from Crytek Studios. He is an Audio Director/Sound Designer who worked on games such as Rainbow Six: Siege, Talking Tom, and he’s currently leading the audio team on Crysis 4. You can give it a listen straight on Byteaction or head to Spotify. My aim is to record an episode every week, so let’s see how I get on :) If ever you are interested in being on one of the episodes - just drop an email on tomas@byteaction.co or reach out to me on Linkedin.
As for what happened in the games industry:
Supermassive Games have announced that they will be laying off around 90 people after its consultation period.
In other news, Nintendo Switch 2 won’t be launching at least until March 2025 according to IGN.
Lastly, Polygon has put together a pretty comprehensive list of the best games of 2024 so far - definitely worth taking a look at, especially if you are looking for something new to play.

Interview with Nick Button-Brown - Outright Games
“Straight user acquisition is really difficult. You can’t market to kids, or you shouldn’t market to kids. It’s wrong. You shouldn’t do it. Trying to bring kids into new games cold is really difficult. That’s why we use licenses. That’s our user acquisition. You recognize it. You want to be part of the Paw Patrol story.” Nick Button-Brown
